1. Summary of old Music database (Music DB) structure

The old Music DB is a database for the music collections loaded (ripped) or imported to storage(s) installed in the device.

The local storage installed in the device will divided to different sectors. One sector is for database (Music DB), the other is for Browser space. All files (data) in the Music DB area can’t be seen by Browser, because it’s hidden area to prevent from unexpected database crashes caused by user’s mistakes. The remaining space except for Music DB area can be accessed by user at Browser mode to delete, copy or move files, etc

Although the old Music DB structure has some advantages, we have decided to develop new Music DB structure, because old Music DB has more inconvenient factors like ‘Import to DB’ function, which takes lots of time to configure Music DB.

2. New Music database (Music DB) structure

New Music DB was applied to firmware R16XX or higher version of N15(D), X14, X35, X50(D), X45, X50Pro, X45Pro and all version of N25 and N25AMP firmware. The new Music DB will create a database with only index (tag info and metadata) of music files stored in each folder of storages. The music files themselves will remain in their original locations. To configure the music database, users only need to execute ‘Scan Music DB’ function for each folder of storages. If you do CD ripping with device, ripped files will be stored in the ‘My Music’ folder of main storage (green colored storage in the Browser mode), and index data of the ripped files will be registered(scanned) to the Music DB automatically. Just like PC, you’d better classify your music files collection by unit of folder on storages.
